The story of Bakers in South Africa began in 1851 when John Frederick Baumann, a young German baker, arrived in Durban. In 1881, the business became known as Baumann’s Biscuits, and in 1915, it officially adopted the name Bakers Limited. That same year, Bakers became the first company in South Africa to produce packaged biscuits, setting a new standard for convenience and hygiene in the country’s food industry.

Over the decades, Bakers became a beloved household name, known for its classic products like Tennis Biscuits, Lemon Creams, Eet-Sum-Mor, and Romany Creams.
