The history of All gold in South Africa 

All Gold tomato sauce was introduced in South Africa in 1908, when a Scottish chemist, John Semble, brought his recipe for a simple tomato sauce made with herbs and spices in muslin bags immersed in freshly pressed tomato juice. Initially produced on a small scale, the brand began mass production in 1959, offering a natural sauce without preservatives, colourants, or thickeners. It quickly became a national favourite and remains a market leader under Tiger Brands, which acquired the operations and oversees cultivation, processing, and bottling across facilities in Limpopo, the Western Cape, and Gauteng.

Today, All Gold is more than just tomato sauce—it is a cultural icon in South African households. Under Tiger Brands, the supply chain includes over 100 commercial and small-scale farms in Musina and Lutzville, capable of processing up to 100,000 tonnes of tomatoes annually into sauce and paste. The Musina plant processes about 3,000 tonnes weekly, and the Johannesburg bottling facility ships around 4.2 million bottles per month. Over time, the brand has expanded its portfolio to include pasta sauces, canned tomatoes, jams, and new squeeze-pack sauces like Light, Spicy, Sweet Chilli, Mustard and Peri‑Peri. Celebratory packaging and marketing campaigns—such as limited edition bottles—reflect its deep roots in South African heritage
